Celebrating A Century of Kent State Women's Athletics

CELEBRATING A CENTURY OF
KENT STATE WOMEN'S ATHLETICS
OCTOBER 8-10, 2010

Since 1910, athletics at Kent State University has long been a model of excellence and an integral part of campus life. In the early years, Kent State women participated in campus intramural and recreational activities such as indoor baseball, badminton, field hockey, horseshoes, archery, volleyball, synchronized swimming, bowling, and handball. It wasn’t until after the passage of Title IX legislation in 1972 that official varsity programs were recognized for basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball on campus. It is this historic foundation upon which the current women’s intercollegiate athletics program at Kent State University has been built.

As part of the university’s Centennial Celebration, Kent State University Intercollegiate Athletics invites you to celebrate the rich athletic history of its women’s sports and to share in the public recognition of pre-Title IX Golden Flash female athletes as letter winners during the 2010 Homecoming Weekend. Please follow the links below for complete weekend details.
