KENT, Ohio – Kent State University President Dr. Lester Lefton and Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen announced the beginning of the largest fundraising initiative in the history of the athletics department. The first phase of the Building Champions Fundraising Initiative was set in motion with the groundbreaking of the Field House Locker Room project on Friday morning, and was followed that evening by the second annual Athletics Scholarship Auction held at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

As the team prepares to take on the challenge after winning their first ever men's indoor championship in 2009, the help of returning athletes including, high jumper Dean Wood of New South Wales, Australia, know what it will take to earn the victory.
Making the transition from high school to college is never an easy task. Moving out of state and meeting a group of people that you see and work with everyday is an even bigger challenge -- unless you are Kent State womens basketball player Taisja Jones who has had to conquer that feat twice.

Senior soccer standout Catharine Marosszeky's relationship with hometown friend Elaine Hurst has grown over the years, and both have learned more about life and themselves for it.
The varsity athletic teams at Kent State will be performing lip sync and dance routines at the 10th annual Jock Jams fundraiser at 7:00 p.m. Tues., April 17th in the Cartwright Hall Auditorium. All proceeds from Jock Jams will be donated to the American Cancer Society and Walls Elementary School.
