There are also many other lodging options in the Omaha area.  Lodging in Omaha for the CWS goes quickly so make sure you act quickly if you are planning to travel.  There will be Kent State University events throughout the week, so be sure to check kentstatesports.com/sports/bsb for information throughout the College World Series for more information. (Look for information regarding a Fathers’ Day event for our team and their families, hosted by the Optimist service club, on Sunday. Details: TBD.)

Tickets:  Each student-athlete will have up to four tickets that will be issued through a pass list for each game.  Student-athletes will be required to submit the names for the pass list by 10:00am EST, Wednesday June 13th, 2012 for the first game.  *Due to the limited number of tickets provided to Kent State University for the CWS, the student-athlete will be responsible for the cost ($30) for any names placed on the pass list and the tickets are not used.

Player Access:  Due to the security that will be present at the CWS, access to your student-athlete will be much more limited at the competition and practice sites.  Please be aware of this at the facilities and adhere by posted guidelines.

NCAA Extra Benefits Guidelines:  As the parent of a Kent State student-athlete, one of the areas that causes the greatest number of questions and concerns involve a student-athlete’s or a family member’s receipt of an “extra benefit.” An extra benefit is considered the receipt of any gift by a student-athlete or a student-athlete’s relative or friend at a free or reduced cost, or any special arrangement that is not available to the general public and all other students at Kent State University.  Examples of an extra benefit would include any of the following:

1. Anything from an employee of Kent State University or a representative of the University’s athletics interests (e.g., use of a car, lodging, clothing, gifts, money, tickets for any kind of entertainment).

2. Free or reduced priced merchandise or services from any merchant unless that free or reduced cost item is also available to the general public at the same rate.

3. Meals provided to parents of a student-athlete by a representative of the University’s athletics interests or an employee of Kent State University.

4. Special discount, payment arrangement or credit on a purchase (e.g, airline ticket, car rental).

The receipt of a benefit not authorized by NCAA regulations by a student-athlete or his/her parent(s) will immediately place in jeopardy the student-athlete’s eligibility for intercollegiate athletics competition.  If you have any questions or concerns about a benefit that is being offered, please contact the Kent State compliance office.  Thank you and Go Flashes!
